Basketball Recap: Holtville Vikings vs. Southwest EC Eagles

Holtville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. The contest between them and the Southwest EC Eagles didn't end well, with the Holtville Vikings falling 54-35. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Southwest EC found their leader in sophomore Gabriel Gonzalez, who went 10 of 20 on his way to 27 points and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzalez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Rodiles, who went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points and three steals.

Holtville's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Southwest EC, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14.

Holtville will venture away from home to challenge Palo Verde Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palo Verde Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Southwest EC, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brawley at 7:00 p.m.
