Volleyball Recap: Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles vs. Las Lomas Knights
Clayton Valley Charter lost against Las Lomas back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Clayton Valley Charter took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Las Lomas. The Ugly Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
While Clayton Valley Charter ultimately came up short, they really made Las Lomas work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-17.
Ty McConnell paced Clayton Valley Charter's offense, picking up nine kills. McConnell got some help from Jeremy Oviedo and his 20 assists. Finally, Luigi Zabala kept Clayton Valley Charter's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.
Las Lomas found their leader in sophomore Tate Thompson, who had 49 assists and four digs. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 14 games he's played.
Clayton Valley Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Las Lomas, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Clayton Valley Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against College Park on the 27th. After both having extra time off, Las Lomas and Miramonte will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on April 8. The timing is sure in Las Lomas' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Miramonte has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
