Recap: Spring Valley Vikings vs. Richland Northeast Cavaliers
The Spring Valley Vikings won the last time they faced the Richland Northeast Cavaliers, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Spring Valley strolled past Richland Northeast with points to spare, taking the game 62-48. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 9 on the offensive boards, as Spring Valley did.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spring Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariana Moody, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Moody has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Chisholm, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Despite the defeat, Richland Northeast had strong showings from Zimarika Moorer, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Lujain Jallab, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jallab continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Spring Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Richland Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Rock Hill at 6:30 p.m. on January 10th. Rock Hill is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Richland Northeast, they will head out on the road to take on Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Irmo is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
