The San Dieguito Academy Mustangs will challenge the Valley Center Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (San Dieguito Academy has five straight victories, Valley Center has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While San Dieguito Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 12-9 win over Classical Academy on Monday.

Emi Adams was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Willow Wright, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
San Dieguito Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Classical Academy only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Valley Center took on Escondido Charter on Monday. Valley Center lost 8-2 to Escondido Charter.
Su'La Devers was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
San Dieguito Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1-1. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing nine strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.86 in the others. As for Valley Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Valley Center's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: San Dieguito Academy has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Valley Center, though, as they've been averaging 9.5 hits. Given San Dieguito Academy's sizable advantage in that area, Valley Center will need to find a way to close that gap.
San Dieguito Academy couldn't quite finish off Valley Center in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 7-5. Will San Dieguito Academy have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
