Baseball Game Preview: Hammond Tornadoes vs. Fontainebleau Bulldogs

The Hammond Tornadoes will head out to take on the Fontainebleau Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hammond will be strutting in after a win while Fontainebleau will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Hammond turned things around against Springfield on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout.

The result came thanks to Justin Harland's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lathan Ducote was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Fontainebleau was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 10-4 to French Settlement. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since April 1, 2024.

Fontainebleau's loss dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Hammond, their victory bumped their record up to 6-24.

Hammond suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Fontainebleau in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
