Softball Recap: Lewis Cass Takes a Loss

Lewis Cass had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it six. They lost 15-2 to the Eastbrook Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Kings have suffered since May 17, 2024.

Ava Hubner was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Eastbrook, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Eastbrook's side, Delanie Elliott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Elliott has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleigh Perry, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Braelee McNutt was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Lewis Cass will welcome Northfield at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eastbrook, they will take on Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
