Fort Lauderdale hasn't had much luck against McArthur recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fort Lauderdale Flying L's will look to defend their home field against the McArthur Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Fort Lauderdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Fort Lauderdale took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They never let Northeast get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Flying L's haven't had any issues with the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Fort Lauderdale got a great performance from Jack Lynch as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Lynch has allowed since back in February.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Hirsch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexander Melachrino, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, McArthur lost 18-8 to South Plantation on Tuesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Damari Madry was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Tommy Rodriguez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Fort Lauderdale's win bumped their record up to 3-7-1. As for McArthur, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Fort Lauderdale's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. Fort Lauderdale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game.
