Basketball Game Preview: Byron Tigers vs. Pecatonica Indians

Byron is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Pecatonica is on a 12-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Byron Tigers will host the Pecatonica Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Byron's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.

On Monday, Byron strolled past Mooseheart with points to spare, taking the game 67-50. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Red Ramblers are ranked 644th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pecatonica). They claimed a resounding 113-30 win over Durand. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 23 points or more this season.

Byron has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Pecatonica, their victory bumped their record up to 21-0.

Byron skirted past Pecatonica 57-55 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Will Byron repeat their success, or does Pecatonica have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
