Basketball Recap: Calhoun Sandcrabs vs. Calallen Wildcats

Calhoun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 93-48 defeat at the hands of the Calallen Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Sandcrabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1300th, while the Wildcats are ranked 630th).

Calallen was led to victory by Sam Cecava and Tanner Martinez. Cecava went 7 for 10 on his way to 21 points, to go along with six rebounds and four steals, while Martinez dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Cecava's afternoon made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Rodriguez, who posted 14 points and six boards.

Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Calallen, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Calhoun didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-27 defeat against Aransas Pass on the 6th. As for Calallen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-42 victory against Incarnate Word Academy on the 7th.
