Baseball Game Preview: James Monroe Mavericks vs. PikeView Panthers

The James Monroe Mavericks will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the PikeView Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

James Monroe is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They came up short against Alleghany on Wednesday, falling 11-1.

James Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylee Ridgeway, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, PikeView had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Summers County on Wednesday.

Braden Huggins was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Landon Wyatt was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

James Monroe took their win against PikeView in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3. Will James Monroe repeat their success, or does PikeView have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
