Baseball Recap: Torrey Pines Takes a Loss

Torrey Pines fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against San Marcos on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 7-2 to the Knights. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Dylan Camren was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Torrey Pines saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Young, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Torrey Pines now has a losing record of 10-11. As for San Marcos, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will face off against La Costa Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mavericks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for San Marcos, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancho Bernardo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
