Rockingham County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the High Point Central Bison a 17-0 shutout. Give the Cougars' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Ava Grace Pruitt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Rockingham County let Lily Strittmatter and Macey Hardy run wild. Strittmatter went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run, while Hardy scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, Hardy posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Presley Rothe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Rockingham County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Point Central only posted an OBP of .000.

Rockingham County's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for High Point Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Rockingham County will be playing at home against Dudley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for High Point Central, they will head out to face off against T.W. Andrews at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.44 runs per game on average), something the Bison will no doubt try to take advantage of.
