Soccer Game Preview: Sumter vs. West Florence

Sumter hasn't had much luck against West Florence recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gamecocks will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 7:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Sumter came up short against Westwood and fell 3-1.

Meanwhile, West Florence had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals) and they went ahead and made it seven last Monday. They walked away with a 5-3 victory over the Braves.

West Florence hit Socastee with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ellison Banner (2), Bella Davis, Kayden Faile, and Sarah Cashin.

West Florence pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those three games. As for Sumter, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Sumter suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to West Florence when the teams last played back in March. Can the Gamecocks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
