St. John faced Algonquin Regional in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Pioneers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Titans a 7-0 shutout. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

St. John's pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Algonquin Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John's will venture away from home to take on Xaverian Brothers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pioneers 1.6, the Hawks 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Algonquin Regional, they are taking a road trip to challenge Shepherd Hill Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
