Basketball Recap: Cloverdale Eagles vs. St. Helena Saints
Cloverdale lost against St. Helena back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cloverdale Eagles took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Helena Saints. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 708th, while the Saints are ranked 122nd).
Jaxson Randolph and Jesus Arizmendi certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Randolph went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points and four steals, while Arizmendi posted 20 points. That was a full 40% of Cloverdale's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Montanye, who earned three points and 13 rebounds.
Cloverdale suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 5-5. As for St. Helena, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
