Basketball Recap: Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils vs. Central Valley Academy Thunder
The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Central Valley Academy, falling 71-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Vernon-Verona-Sherrill has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill still got an impressive performance from Atticus Roque, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Deacon Judd was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals for Central Valley Academy. Judd is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season. Will Luke was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Central Valley Academy, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Jugglers at 7:00 p.m. Notre Dame is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Central Valley Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Black Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New York (Rome Free Academy is ranked 31st, while the Thunder are ranked 34th).
