Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Eagles vs. Kelliher/Northome Mustangs

The Sacred Heart Eagles will square off against the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Sacred Heart sitting on four straight wins and Kelliher/Northome on 16.

Sacred Heart is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-51 victory over Mahnomen/Waubun.

Meanwhile, everything went Kelliher/Northome's way against Warren-Alvarado-Oslo on Tuesday as Kelliher/Northome made off with a 66-46 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 games by 20 points or more this season.

Sacred Heart better focus on containing Kate Thayer and Kylee Binkley as the pair were huge in Kelliher/Northome's win. Thayer went 9-for-18 on her way to 20 points along with eight boards and seven steals, while Binkley shot 50% from the field en route to 21 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. Thayer has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 58 times she's played. Allison Lundin was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Kelliher/Northome smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 23 consecutive contests.

Sacred Heart's record now sits at 20-5. As for Kelliher/Northome, their record is now 26-3.
