Basketball Preview: Holmes County Blue Devils vs. Poplar Springs Atomics
The Holmes County Blue Devils's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Poplar Springs Atomics at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Thursday, Holmes County lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 67-51 margin. Holmes County has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Poplar Springs was beaten by the Bucks 69-27 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Poplar Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 696th, while the Bucks are ranked 202nd).
Holmes County now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Poplar Springs, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.
Holmes County was able to grind out a solid win over the Atomics in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 59-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holmes County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
