Basketball Recap: Washington County Golden Hawks vs. Putnam County War Eagles

The Washington County Golden Hawks pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-64 to Putnam County. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (61), Washington County still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Washington County still got an impressive performance from Kamonta Durden, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kadrian Cason, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Landon Bonner was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points for Putnam County. That makes it five consecutive games in which Bonner has scored at least a third of Putnam County's points. Zay Hargrove was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.

Washington County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Putnam County, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Washington County will head out on the road to face off against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westside will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Putnam County, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Thomson is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
