Baseball Game Preview: Palmerton Blue Bombers vs. Salisbury Township Falcons

The Palmerton Blue Bombers will head out to face off against the Salisbury Township Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Salisbury Township took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Palmerton, who comes in off a win.

While Palmerton's win against Pen Argyl wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Bombers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Green Knights 3-1. The Blue Bombers haven't had any issues with the Green Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Cameron Pengelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Palmerton is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Palmerton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Carrelli, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was AJ Borger, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Salisbury Township came up short against Northwestern Lehigh on Monday and fell 9-6.

Nate Nunez and Caleb Gonzalez did some serious damage despite the final result: Nunez scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Gonzalez scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Salisbury Township's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Palmerton, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
