Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Mules vs. Carmi-White County Bulldogs

The Fairfield Mules will head out to take on the Carmi-White County Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Carmi-White County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Fairfield didn't have quite enough to beat Flora and fell 3-2. The Mules have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fairfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Easton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carmi-White County). They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Eldorado on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Cade Allen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Carmi-White County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-9-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Gavin Holoman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs.

Carmi-White County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Carmi-White County's record is now 7-9-1. As for Fairfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Fairfield came up short against Carmi-White County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Mules avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
