Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Elk Grove ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Buchanan Bears 10-9. The high-scoring effort was just what the Thundering Herd needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Elk Grove got a big performance out of Julian Arguello, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Arguello a new career-high in RBI (two). Hudson Hall was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Arguello wasn't the only one making solid contact: Elk Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Elk Grove's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9. As for Buchanan, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-3.

Coming up, Elk Grove will welcome Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Buchanan, they will head out to face off against Clovis West at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
