Softball Recap: Wesleyan Christian Academy Drops Season-High Score on Chapel Hill

While Wesleyan Christian Academy put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Chapel Hill. Wesleyan Christian Academy blew past Chapel Hill 10-0. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Maris Morgan and Alexis Emery made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Morgan didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Emery pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Morgan has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Morgan scored a run while going 1-for-5, while Emery scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Emery a new career-high.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Moon, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Mackenzie Smith was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Wesleyan Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing nine hits in those games compared to only four in the others. As for Chapel Hill, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesleyan Christian Academy will challenge Bethany Community at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chapel Hill, they will face off against Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapel Hill's pitchers better be ready for this one: Jordan has averaged an impressive 11.4 runs per game this season.
