Basketball Recap: Eureka Takes a Loss

Eureka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 53-39 to the North Valleys Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Vandals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Panthers are ranked 19th).

Joshua Collins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Valleys, going 11 for 14 on his way to 26 points. The match was Collins' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyrone Washington, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

Eureka's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for North Valleys, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

After both having extra time off, Eureka and McDermitt will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for North Valleys, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Tahoe at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
