Basketball Recap: Kennett Takes a Loss

Kennett suffered their biggest defeat since December 23, 2024 on Thursday. They took a blow against the Portageville Bulldogs, falling 61-31. The matchup marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kennett's loss came despite strong showings from Alyce Edwards and Alaina Edwards. Alyce posted 13 points, while Alaina scored eight points and six boards. That was a full 41.9% of Kennett's points, marking the 19th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Kennett is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9. As for Portageville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennett will head out to square off against Sikeston at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Portageville, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Saxony Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th.
