Volleyball Recap: East Fairmont Takes a Loss

East Fairmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fairmont Senior Polar Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Polar Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on September 2nd.

East Fairmont actually scored more points across those three sets (60-58), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 26-24, 15-11.

Despite the loss, East Fairmont saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hollan Bunner had four digs and four aces. Peyton McDaniel also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

East Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Fairmont Senior, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

East Fairmont has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Preston on the 18th. As for Fairmont Senior, they will be playing at home against Robert C. Byrd at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
