Football Recap: Paschal Piles Up the Points Against Polytechnic

Paschal's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-20 win over the Polytechnic Parrots. Considering the Panthers have won four matchups by more than 37 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Paschal's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Truman Shelton led the charge by rushing for 72 yards and two TDs on only five carries. Shelton didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made one tackle. Another player making a difference was Jashaun Thomas, who rushed for 64 yards and one score on only six carries.

Another reason for the win was Paschal's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Leading the way was Rafael Padron with two. Paschal received some extra help from Shelton, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Paschal's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Polytechnic, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paschal will take on Saginaw at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Shelton and Elijah Irvin. As for Polytechnic, they will face off against North Side at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Parrots will be up against the Steers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
