Basketball Recap: New Hope Trojans vs. Corinth Warriors

The New Hope Trojans waltzed into their match on Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They came out on top against Corinth by a score of 60-50. Given New Hope's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Warriors are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Corinth lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Xae Mayes, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Harris, who scored 17 points.

New Hope pushed their record up to 22-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Corinth, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

New Hope and the Panthers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. West Lowndes has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 353 points over their last five matchups.
