Volleyball Recap: West Carteret Starts Season with Victory on the Road

West Carteret had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the East Carteret Mariners with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mariners, too.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-14, 25-18.

Saylor Cottrell paced West Carteret's offense, picking up six kills. Cottrell got some help from Anna Claire Oakes and her two assists. Finally, Zoey Godwin kept West Carteret's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

East Carteret's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Carteret will head out to take on Laney at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Carteret, they will venture away from home to challenge Havelock at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
