Volleyball Recap: Magee Comes Up Short

Magee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the McLaurin Tigers. The Trojans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Magee took McLaurin into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-10, 25-20, 20-25, 15-7.

Leading McLaurin to victory were Kaylee Holeman and Kaydann Reed. Holeman had 19 digs and two aces, while Reed had 24 digs, nine kills, and eight aces. That's the most digs Reed has posted since back in August.

Magee's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for McLaurin, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: McLaurin beat Magee by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday.
