Baseball Recap: Waterloo Tigers vs. Midlakes Screaming Eagles

Waterloo extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-7. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Midlakes Screaming Eagles. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Screaming Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Midlakes, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 12, 2025.

For Midlakes' part, Ayden Klapp and Braxton Wilkes made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Klapp tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wilkes struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Klapp also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Midlakes is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-4 otherwise.
