Whiting took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Hammond Bishop Noll, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Oilers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-7. While the Oilers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Brennan Bannister was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up seven earned runs off four hits. Bannister was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Aliyah Vianello was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Arianna Vianello was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Whiting kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

With the win, Whiting broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-4. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whiting will challenge Morgan Township at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cherokees have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.91 runs per game on average), something the Oilers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they will take on Highland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
