Softball Game Preview: Clemente Wildcats vs. Goode STEM Academy Knights

The Clemente Wildcats will face off against the Goode STEM Academy Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Goode STEM Academy is facing Clemente at the wrong time: Clemente suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 21-14. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (12), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Sabrina Negron and Kayla Porrata stepped up to the plate in a big way. Negron got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Porrata got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Negron has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julie Robinson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Goode STEM Academy lost 12-2 to Solorio on Saturday. The Knights have struggled against the Sun Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Goode STEM Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Clemente, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3-1.

Clemente took their win against Goode STEM Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-10 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
