Preview: Deposit-Hancock vs. Greene Trojans
After three games on the road, Deposit-Hancock is heading back home. They will take on the Greene Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Deposit-Hancock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
A well-balanced attack led Deposit-Hancock over Unadilla Valley in every quarter on their way to victory. Deposit-Hancock walked away with a 52-39 victory over Unadilla Valley. Given Deposit-Hancock's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Unadilla Valley is ranked 778th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Deposit-Hancock got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Fortunato out in front who scored 23 points along with three steals. Fortunato is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Alejandro Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Greene was not quite Chenango Forks' equal in the second half on Saturday. Greene fell 47-39 to Chenango Forks.
Deposit-Hancock has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Greene, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
