Baseball Recap: Central Crossing Takes a Loss

For Groveport-Madison's part, Jack Lutz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chris Conley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Groveport-Madison is 2-1 when Conley posts two or more runs, but 1-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joseph Casserly, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Central Crossing and Groveport-Madison could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Comets will face off against Olentangy Berlin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (520 vs. 7). Meanwhile, Groveport-Madison (ranked 619th) will meet Olentangy Liberty (ranked third) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
