Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson lost against Orono back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Jefferson Jaguars lost 78-52 to the Orono Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while the Spartans are ranked tenth).

Jefferson has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Orono, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Looking ahead, Jefferson will be playing at home against Chaska at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaska knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Jefferson likes a good challenge. As for Orono, they will take on New Prague at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orono is facing New Prague at the right time seeing as New Prague is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
