Soccer Game Preview: Elk Grove vs. Franklin

Elk Grove is 0-9-1 against Franklin since February of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Elk Grove Thundering Herd are taking a road trip to challenge the Franklin Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Franklin heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Elk Grove took over last week. Elk Grove walked away with a 3-1 win over Laguna Creek on Wednesday. The Thundering Herd's winning goal came courtesy of Noah Jang.

Meanwhile, Franklin put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. They never let Monterey Trail onto the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Franklin pushed their record up to 16-0-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four contests. As for Elk Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9-4.

Elk Grove suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Franklin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Elk Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
