Basketball Recap: Washington Takes a Loss

Washington lost against Miami Trace back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Washington Blue Lions took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Miami Trace Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Blue Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Panthers are ranked 37th).

Despite the loss, Washington still got an impressive performance from Bryson Heath, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points. Heath is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Roman Chijevsky was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Washington has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. Miami Trace's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-0.

Washington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-53 loss against Waverly on the 20th. As for Miami Trace, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-53 victory against Hillsboro on the 15th.
