Softball Game Preview: Narragansett Regional Warriors vs. Oakmont Regional Spartans

The Narragansett Regional Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Oakmont Regional Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Narragansett Regional has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Narragansett Regional's win against Ayer Shirley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Panthers 15-14. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Mikalaya Sweeney was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Gianna Manca was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Narragansett Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Oakmont Regional came up short against Littleton on Wednesday and fell 5-2. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oakmont Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Narragansett Regional, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Narragansett Regional took their victory against Oakmont Regional in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 15-8 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
