Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Bears vs. Flat Rock Rams

Jefferson is 1-9 against Flat Rock since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Jefferson played in-conference for the first time on Wednesday and got just the result they were looking for. Everything went their way against Grosse Ile as they made off with a 15-5 win.

Madison Duvall and Bella Treaster did most of the damage at the plate: Duvall got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, while Treaster went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Duvall a new career-high. Kenzie Knox was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grosse Ile only posted an OBP of .292.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Flat Rock and Bedford, and Flat Rock kept the tradition alive. The Rams came out on top against the Kicking Mules by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday.

Emma Neace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Flat Rock let Sarah Giroux and Faith Soden run wild. Giroux went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Soden went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaclynn Motyka, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Flat Rock, their win bumped their record up to 12-10-1.
