Softball Game Preview: Poly Parrots vs. Kennedy Cougars

The Poly Parrots will head out on the road to take on the Kennedy Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Poly, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Poly turned things around against Arleta on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 8-3.

ISABELLA NAVARRO spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, JACKIE GALLARDO was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of JAZLYN GALLARDO, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Poly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Kennedy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Sierra Canyon by a score of 8-7.

Sofia Melgoza led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sarah Olague, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Poly, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-10.

Poly might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Kennedy when the teams last played back in April. Can the Parrots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
