Football Recap: Newport Skates Past Harrison County with Ease

Newport won the last time they faced Harrison County and things went their way on Friday too. The Wildcats blew past the Thorobreds/Fillies 46-7. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 29 points or more this season.

Jaden Conley threw for 72 yards on five of nine attempts. Carvonta Roper was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards. On the ground, Kendell Buck-Barber rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry.

Despite the loss, Harrison County still got an impressive performance from Hunter Jones, who rushed for 76 yards and one score.

The win (which was Newport's third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average over those games. As for Harrison County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Newport and Harrison County are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildcats will challenge Ludlow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Harrison County, they will square off against Johnson Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thorobreds/Fillies will need to watch out since the Golden Eagles have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
