Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Wiley

Wiley waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 55-48 victory over the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Wiley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Milton Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Hernandez is becoming a predictor of Wiley's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 6-2 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Grant Mauch, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards.

Wiley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dallas Calzonetti, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Jorey Billings was another key player, putting up 14 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Wiley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points over those games. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Wiley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-52 victory against Miami-Yoder on the 25th.
