Recap: Conneaut Spartans vs. St. John Fighting Herald

The Conneaut Spartans entered their tilt with the St. John Fighting Herald with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Conneaut came out on top against St. John by a score of 78-65 on Saturday. Given Conneaut's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while St. John is ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Conneaut was led to victory by Noah Hamm and Chance Loomis. Hamm shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Loomis dropped a double-double on 23 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Loomis has scored at least 25% of Conneaut's points. J.R. Hutchison was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Conneaut has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 3-0 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for St. John, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conneaut will challenge Perry at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. St. John is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Pymatuning Valley at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Pymatuning Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 282 points over their last four games.
