Softball Recap: Carroll Tigers vs. Perry Bluejays
Carroll extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-19. They fell 7-4 to the Perry Bluejays. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bluejays since Tuesday.
As for Perry, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-15 record this season. The game was the first time they have beaten Carroll on their field since June 22, 2018.
For Perry's part, Kate Schuttler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Schuttler has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.
In other batting news, Karagyn Whelchel was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in June of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Erickson, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Coming up, Carroll will venture away from home to face off against South Central Calhoun at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Perry, they will host Nevada at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
