Football Recap: LaSalle-Peru Takes a Loss + How To Watch

LaSalle-Peru extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They fell 32-20 to the Metamora Redbirds. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Redbirds are ranked 112th).

Despite the defeat, LaSalle-Peru saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Marion Persich rushed for 90 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries.

As for Metamora, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 37.5 points this season.

Jaiduan Cranford went supernova, rushing for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 136 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Looking ahead, LaSalle-Peru will head out on the road to face off against Ottawa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Metamora, they will be playing at home against Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Redbirds their first taste of in-conference action this season.
