Severance falls despite strong effort from Attley Helzer

Recap: Severance Silver Knights vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions

The Severance Silver Knights struggled with assists on Thursday (the Mountain View Mountain Lions had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Severance lost to Mountain View on the road by a decisive 51-37 margin. Severance has struggled against Mountain View recently, as their game on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Severance lost, one person who can't be blamed is Attley Helzer. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maisy Dennis, who scored five points along with five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Meghan Keil, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alex Ellis, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Severance has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Mountain View, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Severance and Niwot will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Niwot is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Mountain View, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fort Morgan at 7:00 p.m. Fort Morgan is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
