Football Recap: Blake Johnson Key Part of Team Effort in Bulldogs Win + How To Watch

Opelika's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 24-14 win over the Carver Montgomery Wolverines. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 44-35 victory the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Opelika's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Johnson, who rushed for 23 yards and a pair of scores. CJ Johnson helped out on the ground, rushing for 99 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Opelika's defense and their five sacks. In that department, Joshua Davis was the leader with two. Braiden Howard got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Opelika's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.0 points over those games. As for Carver Montgomery, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4.

Opelika does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carver Montgomery, they will challenge Saraland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.
