Softball Recap: San Pedro Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

San Pedro had won eight straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 14-2 to make it nine. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Carson Colts, sneaking past 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-3 back in April.

Caroline Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, San Pedro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breya Ventura, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Carson, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-2-1. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

On Carson's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Giselle Pantoja gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Ashannalee Titialii was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple.

Coming up, San Pedro will square off against Banning at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pilots have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Carson, they will challenge Palos Verdes at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sea Kings will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight.
