Baseball Recap: Laurel Wins Going Away Against Wise

Laurel came out on top against Wise on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Spartans put the hurt on the Pumas with a sharp 11-1 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Pumas recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Aiden Lee made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and two stolen bases. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, CJ DeTurris was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Laurel: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Demerius Custis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Laurel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Laurel's record is now 4-8. As for Wise, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
